I’ve always wanted to share this way of making jam because it’s part of my family’s heritage. My mom always canned, baked bread and made jam while we were kids. She taught me and I plan to pass it onto my kids. Here’s an easy video tutorial on How To Make Jam.
When I’ve had to buy jam I get amazed at all the extra unnecessary ingredients in them. For this jam all you need is berries, sugar and pectin. Pectin naturally occurs in ripe fruits but if you don’t want to use pectin no problem, just watch the video to find out what to do instead.
The best part is you can reuse and re purpose any glass jar. So save up those pasta sauce jars, pickle jars, mustard jars, and even baby food jars if you want to make small jars to give away. Just wash them and store. (oh I wish I had a canning storage room like my mom)
Of course you can follow this tutorial to make the jam and purchase snap lids for proper bought jam jars.
For this recipe :
4-1/2 Cups Strawberries
1 Box Pectin Crystals
7 Cups Sugar
Use Paraffin Wax to seal jars.
